It uses a lot of magic as a part of the taradiddle as the main characters, Kendra and lot, go on a sweep to save their family. Along the way, they meet many magical creatures who sting their adventures even more exciting. Kendra and bent go to their Grandpas phratry so that their parents can go on a cruise. They did not know he was the caretaker of Fablehaven, a mythological world. Their grandfather left a riddle for Kendra and Seth to solve and secure wind that he is the caretaker. They stay during Mid-Summer eve when all of the creatures come for a party.

The creatures are able to understand themselves, and even to trick Kendra and Seth. Seth thought he saw a baby on the roof with a warewolf almost to eat it. He quickly opened the window, grabbed the baby, and it suddenly turned into a troll. The warewolves got into the house, too, and turned in to a serpent and a goblin. The assistant caretaker, Dale, comes in the house and lures the troll and serpents downstairs. A invol! vement breaks out, and they take Kendra and Seths Grandpa and Lena, the maid.
